VOLUNTEER WITH EWOP

Why Become an EWOP Volunteer

Volunteering your time, talents, and sometimes treasure to empower and transform an incarcerated female is life changing, not just for the female who is in prison, but for you. By sharing your time and talent you share business and leadership examples of excellence and success. Giving of yourself by serving others will result in helping women gain confidence and encouragement to find meaningful work when released from prison.  Look through the volunteer opportunities below to see where you are best equipped to become a certified EWOP volunteer.

"As a life and leadership coach, I'm intentional with my limited volunteer time and only partner with organizations where the mission is to help people help themselves. When I work beside the incarcerated women of EWOP, either leading workshops or providing business advice, I come away more knowledgeable and inspired by the hard work these women are doing to improve who they are and how they show up. The women of EWOP are preparing for a future outside of prison, so they can be better parents and citizens in their community. I consider EWOP one of the best return on investment for my time and money."

"When I first began volunteering with incarcerated individuals, I thought that I could use my career experience to advise on business plans and help reduce recidivism.  What I didn’t expect was the impact my involvement would have on my own life.  It is rare to see a group of people so determined to change the direction of their lives, so willing to acknowledge the failings of their past and resolute to succeed in the future.  I have learned from my incarcerated sisters to embrace hardship, avoid judgmental tendencies, be a life-long learner and to live with hope.  I look forward to days that I can be present with the women in prison to witness their path of transformation.  This program creates better mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, and yes business people.  Each graduate helps transform the world.  My volunteer time is a blessing in my life and I encourage others to spend a day with us behind bars and experience this unique program."
